damn! i woke up late n submitted my report late.. luckily my group mate saved my ass. knowing that i didnt reply his sms, he submitted one copy just b4 the noon time.

i finally got my curtain washed, vacuum my floor and wiped the ceiling fan. whoosh...

a saturday in hall isn't that bad after all.. provided it is not just for studying =)

DnD

DnD was finally over last night. seeing my neighbour working so hard for it, i m glad for him. he is still like a walking dead this afternoon.

seriously, this year DnD is not that successful. ( i m kind with my words) i m sure there are plenty of ppl out there agreeing with me.

from transport to food to the price of the tickets, nothing is right.

i am kinda convinced that the i/c of dnd can't cope with such a large scale event. last year, when she was in charge of another major event, she screwed up the transport as well. but credits to her, she got the event done after all and the prizes from lucky draw were good. ( which made me even more pissed! why can't give me the shuffle for my lucky draw then!)

celebration

we had our handball + andee's birthday celebration last friday @ o bar...

it was really a crazy night out. i was drunk. knocked out completely!

that was twice in a row. but seriously, it was fun to be knocked out knowing that ur good friends will ensure u a safe trip back to hall.. haha.. i won't mind making it 3 times in a row

anw.. like i hope it turned up to be, it was a real great night. hope we will have plenty of these crazy fun to come SOON!

handball!

i am so happy that sheares finished off as the group leader by beating TH last Friday. the defence in the first half was good.

i am happy to get some playing time too. i finally scored the first goal .. and continued to assist the team by earning a penalty. it wasn't a dive k! the guy really touched me. lol... 2 chances were given to me.. one goal and one assist!

i admit i did a bad job in defencing that day. i shouldn't have gotten that stupid 2 mins.. unncessary foul trouble.

buaya week

buaya week is finally over. my buaya this year is real good. will upload the pic to show u all what she did soon...

anw i am damn tired.. all thanks to buaya wk.. assignments and exams.. life is getting a bit too monotone..

sheares basketball girls

after cruising through the first round with easy victories over KR and King Edward and staging a well deserved fight back in the semi against the eusoff in the semi, the sheares basketball girls finally came down against TH in the final.

it was a heart breaking moment at the final whistle as they fought really hard in the final. being their TM for the past few months, i do feel for them through the competition. they trained really hard during the hols and last week. they transformed from a team of no bodies to a team that was filled with fighting spirit and able to go to the finals and give TH a good fight.

i think the girls deserved more than 3 cheers.

anyway i was really honored to be the TM for this team. really appreciated Alison for giving me this chance to be the TM even through she didn't really know me at the start. hope i didn't let her down throughout the last semester. initially i was really bored whenever i had to watch them train. however, as time passed and i got to know the team better, training was n't that boring anymore. it was quite a joy actually to see them improving over time. it is like watching a infant slowly learning how to walk.

hope this defeat will be a good lesson for the young team and may this team stay together and strive even harder next year... gd work girls.

looking back at 2007 ~ sheares

i think one of the main highlights of year 2007 is the moving into sheares hall. it was quite dramatic. after months of appealing and applying, i couldn't get a single room anywhere. just when i was about to give up, calvin came and offered me a opportunity which was to go for a badminton trial at sheares and get in through badminton. those who know me well enough will know that my badminton will never be strong enough to get me a place anywhere and needless to say it was not my favourite sports at all. however, desperate for a room, i gave my best shot. in the end, though some miracles my badminton still saved the day n i got a place in sheares. i owe u one big one, calvin.

settling down in sheares was never easy especially when i was allocated a room in an international student level. however i met a group of friends who help me adapt to hall life in no time. playing mahjong, going out for supper, coming together to talk crap, celebrating one another's birthday. all these are the things i enjoy doing with them. going through sheares events such as buaya week and night cycling with them just made the past few months more memorable. i believe this was gonna be the best time i ever had in hall. thanks mates... =) u guys are great. i doubt  i can find another group of friends in sheares who will be as interesting and fun as you all.

although there are some major changes now as they have moved on in their own directions, they give me the word that they will still try to make things remain the same. but i believe it is hard to have a time as good as before as a group. nevertheless i hope one day the dreams that we talk about will come true.. staying at level 8 and going overseas together.

hoping for a greater time together in 2008. 

leopard

i finally dragged my butt to IT co-op today to exchange for the latest leopard upgrade cd. fearing that the whole process would take quite long, i decided to go there as early as 930 am~! (co-op opens at 9)

initially, i thought they would help to do the upgrading and all my data would be gone. so i actually spent a night creating a backup for all my data. but guess what ? the upgrade is actually a DIY thing and all data won't be deleted. so i actually wasted one night doing unnecessary things again. but at least i managed to clear some junk folders in my mac book.

it took me almost an hour to update the brand new software but i think it is definitely worth the time. although i didn't really think there is a very distinct difference between leopard and the previous platform, i think it is still definitely better than vista. i do try to explore the new system and discover that there are actually several new functions.

what amazes me the most is actually those new camera cum video functions from the photo booth. my hall frens n i had some great fun using them earlier on this afternoon.

till now i m still v impressed by mac book n in fact all mac products. i don't regret getting it. mac book is the way to go... yea..

exams~~

after 5 days of continuous exams, i am already feeling mentally drained. there is still one more paper left on saturday and i really can't wait for it to be over.
anyway during these 2 wks of studying in the central library and sheares reading room, i discovered the art of studying at these places.

Central Library
Closing timing ~
when the library closing timing is 10 pm, it means it closes at 930 pm. the staff will start to chase u out at 930 pm by playing loud music and start going around to tell u that the library is closed. so what is the point of telling us there is extension of time from 930 to 10 when pple have to stop studying at 930?
Power Plugs
if u ever want to get to use the power plug to charge ur laptop, be early. the power plugs here got occupied pretty fast. another suggestion is to bring a multi plug so that u can share the plug with others. one amusing thing that i have taken note is that sometimes when the user isn't around, the charger is still connected to the plugs but not to the laptops as the laptops are taken away. haha.. when i come across such situation, i will just take out the charger and plug in mine. i think these people are rather inconsiderate.. but what to do.. ? the power plugs are as scarce as Singapore land.

Sheares Library
Isn't it amazing that if u ever see the same person occupying the same seat for the whole week ? it is not that he has been there forever. it is just that he reserved the seat forever. by studying at sheares reading rm, i learn the art of reserving seats. just spread ur papers across the table and put a bottle there. if possible scatter a few pens across the table and the seat is urs until u clear up ur own mess. i m not someone who approves reserving seats but when everybody does the same thing, it sometimes just forces u to do so too. if u cant beat them, join them...
why can't everybody be fair and square when comes to such things? first come, first serve.. no reservation, this isn't a restaurant.
no wonder Singapore remains so kiasu after so many years.. this local culture definitely can withstand all kind of globalization factors and remain in the blood of almost every Singaporeans.

anyway, one thing to be noted is that the users do keep quiet which helps to provide a conducive environment for everyone.

night cycling

it is the sheares night cycling..
my 8th time cycling..
2nd time riding a tandem ( with me in front)
2nd time on the road..

and i had 5 accidents only..~!! that's a improvement considering the number of accidents i had the previous time. n it is 5 minor accidents.

the route was quite challenging. there were quite a few steep slopes and cycling against the traffic several times. i enjoyed the last part the most. it was cycling back to the finishing point in the ecp. everyone was speeding up. unfortunately, my gears were spolit and there was a limit to how fast my bike could travel. anyway i enjoyed the breeze blowing against ur face as bike picked up the speed. cool...


anyway... wanna thanks isa and cher.. n andy for trusting me with their lives when they allow me to take the front seat. well.. i know i didnt let u guys down when u all return back to hall in one piece. anyway, it was fun and challenging...

hope sheares can have more of these fun activities...
